Biography

Norliza Mohamed received her B. Eng. (Hons) and Master degree in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2001 and 2003 respectively. Later she continues her study also in UTM and received her PhD degree in 2013. She joined UTM as a tutor in 2001 and she was appointed as a lecturer in 2003. In 2014, she was later promoted to a senior lecturer due to her excellent contribution as an academia. Currently she works for Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics, UTM Kuala Lumpur.

Her expertise is in optical communication particularly in radio over fiber. Her research interest includes optoelectronics devices, RF mixer design, frequency conversion and wireless communication for 5G technologies. She also has expanded her research interest in horticulture technology includes vertical farming and LED farming technology. Her vast knowledge in this area has led her to publications in book chapters, journals and conference proceedings. To date, she has written 4 book chapters. Her research works has also qualified her to receive a total of 8 innovation awards at the university level, national as well as international expositions. She has also 1 patent granted in 2017 for her innovation.

Dr. Norliza Mohamed is an active member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) since 2001 and has registered under ComSoc Society and Photonics Society for Malaysia Chapter. She is also a member of Optical Society of America (OSA) since 2010. She has also actively participated as an organizing committee for a number of international conferences and workshops and recently became a technical program chair for Symposium on Future Telecommunication Technologies (SOFTT 2019) in Kuala Lumpur.
